Grow Your Own is an umbrella term used to describe the many dynamic, equity-centered, and community-driven strategies to support and sustain a robust, diverse early educator workforce. These initiatives attract and prepare individuals of all backgrounds—high school students, career changers, parents, non-classroom staff, and early educators seeking career advancement—to pursue and further careers in ECE.
This webinar will feature Abby Copeman Petig, Research Director at the Center for the Study of Child Care Employment at the University of California Berkeley, Rochelle Wilcox, Co-Chair of Geaux Far Louisiana, the CEO of Wilcox’s Academy Early Learning Center, and the co-founder of For Providers by Providers, and Pamm Shaw, the Executive Director of Berkeley-Albany YMCA and the YMCA of the Central Bay Area in California. Together, they will share successful strategies and real-world examples of how Grow Your Own programs have been implemented in various communities.
