A grandmother sits at her kitchen table, bills spread out before her. She wants to give her grandson fresh fruits and vegetables, but the grocery budget is already stretched thin.
“When I got cut off of food stamps, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to make my car payment,” she recalls.
No caregiver—parent or grandparent—should have to choose between feeding a child and paying basic bills. Yet for too many families, this is an everyday reality. Food insecurity is more than hunger. It undermines child development, increases caregiver stress, and threatens overall family stability.
In partnership with the Pritzker Children’s Initiative (PCI), BUILD invites you to the September webinar of the Whole Child, Whole Family, Whole Systems webinar series. Together, we will explore food insecurity and nutrition as a systems issue—examining barriers, policies, and cross-system solutions that ensure every child has access to the nourishment they need to grow.
