Speak Up For Racial Equity In State Child Care Plans!

In 2017, CLASP conducted a six-month study to understand how young children and early childhood professionals are affected by immigration policy changes. This first-of-its kind research included interviews and focus groups with more than 150 early care and education providers and parents in six states. Our study shows that early childhood providers play a central role supporting millions of young children and their parents during a time of stress and fear.

Determining Costs of Preschool Quality in Kentucky

This report describes Kentucky's effort to develop and validate estimates that reflected the cost of providing preschool and child care across the state at various levels of quality. Findings were used to inform policymakers responsible for determining budget allocations for preschool in school districts and reimbursement rates for child care. .

How Child Care Impacts Louisiana’s Workforce Productivity and the State Economy

Across the United States, Early Care and Education (ECE) is gaining increased attention. Numerous studies point to the academic and social benefits of ECE for young children, and several studies point to the long-term returns on investment for the community in terms of lower incarceration rates and higher high school graduation rates. Although a wealth of research has focused on benefits for young children and local communities, less attention has been given to the benefits of quality ECE for employers and working parents. To date, we have been unable to locate Louisiana-based studies of how child care instability affects the state’s workforce productivity. This study attempts to address this gap.
